“I am Veronica Daudi Kidemi, from Tanzania, the Founder and
CEO of Voice of Women Africa (VOWA). My journey has been
marked by adversity, particularly in experiencing Gender-
Based Violence (GBV) inflicted by my husband. I survived a
horrific incident in September 2020, resulting in the loss of my
right hand, which she used as a teacher. Despite the physical
and emotional toll, I retrained my left hand and continued my
teaching role to support my two sons. Today, I am not only a
survivor, but also an advocate raising awareness against GBV,
offering support to others, and inspiring them to find their
strength.”
